Julia Dietmar is the co-founder and CEO of Open Wardrobe in Redwood City, California in the USA. Julia is a Certified Image Consultant with a degree in computer science from UC Berkeley and an MBA from INSEAD and has over 20 years of experience in retail tech, having served as Chief Product Officer at Vue.ai and leadership roles at Walmart eCommerce, thredUP, and Yahoo! She is passionate about blending data-driven insight with personal style expertise, to help people dress better, buy less, feel great doing it, all while keeping clothing out of landfills.

On today’s show, Julia and I discuss current sustainability challenges in the fashion industry and uncover key human psychology traits behind clothing. We find out how she is leveraging the power of AI through her platform at OpenWardrobe to help people create connection, get more from the clothes they already own and promote circular economy by turning every closet into a climate solution.

Biography

Julia K. Dietmar is the co-founder and CEO of OpenWardrobe, an AI-powered platform that helps people get more from the clothes they already own—through smarter outfit planning, alterations, resale, and mindful styling. Her mission: to keep clothes in circulation and out of landfills by turning every closet into a climate solution.

Julia brings over 20 years of experience in retail tech, including serving as Chief Product Officer at Vue.ai, where she built AI tools for global fashion brands to reduce overproduction and personalize shopping. She’s also held leadership roles at Walmart eCommerce, thredUP, and Yahoo! As a certified image consultant with degrees in Computer Science (UC Berkeley) and an MBA from INSEAD, Julia blends data-driven insight with personal style expertise. She helps people dress better, buy less, and feel great doing it. She is also a Forbes Technology Council member.
